Bomb Threat Cancelled at Texas State University

Statement from Texas State:

"Texas State University police, in consultation with the Austin Police Department Bomb Squad, have cancelled the emergency alert after a bomb threat on the Admissions Building earlier today.

The Tower and San Jacinto residence halls have been reopened. The Admissions Building will remain closed Thursday as a precaution.

All classes will be held according to normal schedule."

10:56 Update: The Austin American-Statesman is also reporting a bomb squad is en route to investigate the threat. Matt Flores, assistant vice president said as of now, classes will continue as normal.

10:13 a.m. Update: The Austin American-Statesman is reporting that the university has asked those in San Jacinto and Towers Halls to evacuate. The threat came via email around 7:20 a.m., and was forwarded to university police by 8:50 a.m.

At 9:42 a.m., a Texas State alert was issued for a bomb threat at the admissions building.

University students and staff were told to avoid the area around the building and admissions building occupants were urged to go to a safe place away from the building.
