Brazos Co. Commissioners Withold Gunler Foods Tax Incentives

BRYAN- Brazos County Commissioners this week voted to withold property tax incentives for the Gunler Foods bottling plant.

A tax abatement of more than $106-thousand-dollars was one of the incentives offered by Brazos County and the city of Bryan for the Mexico-based Gunler Foods to locate a cooking oil bottling facility in Brazos County in 2012.

But Brazos County Judge Duane Peters says commissioners learned Gunler never reached or maintained some of the qualifications for the tax abatement, including salaries and the number of jobs.

In fact Judge Peters says Gunler is not currently operating at the Texas Triangle Park near Highway 6 North and 2818, although he says the company has said it would be back in operation at a future date.
