Brazos County Health Officials say they're taking a proactive approach against preventing the spread of the West Nile Virus via mosquitoes in 2013.

Saturday a meeting was held at the Brazos County Health Department to strategize about the upcoming season. Mosquito control supervisors from Bryan, College Station and Texas A&M were in attendance.

Experts with the health department say a mild winter could mean a larger mosquito population. They encourage everyone to take precautions. There were more than 1,800 human cases of the West Nile Virus in Texas last year - 87 Texans infected died from the virus.
