Brazos Valley Residents Paint to Support West Explosion Victims

By  |

Wednesday night some artists & art lovers got a chance to paint, and support a good cause while doing it.

Firefighters conduct search and rescue of an apartment destroyed by an explosion at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, April 18, 2013.

Painting with a Twist of College Station held a 50% profit share fundraiser to support the Brazos Valley Media Giving Back Fund, which benefits the victims of the West fertilizer Explosion.
Participants were given personal lessons and were able to take their piece of art home with them.

The Brazos Valley Media Giving Back Fund is a team effort fund established by KBTX, The Eagle, and Bryan Broadcasting.

The three media organizations -- television, newspaper and radio -- first teamed up in 2011 to gather donations for those impacted by the wildfires. A recent campaign to raise money for Bryan firefighters killed and injured in a February fire collected $73,000 for the four families.

The Painting With a Twist store is located at 1643 South Texas Avenue in College Station.
