Several Brazos Valley residents are getting a better look today at the damage caused by yesterday's storms and they're keeping local repair companies pretty busy.
"It's terrible," said homeowner, Vlas Manzanareas. "I want to replace it completely. I have to talk to my insurance this afternoon and I don't know if we'll cover it. I want to replace all my roof."
Manzanareas built this house five years ago.
Powerful winds damaged parts of his roof, scattering debris and stones from his chimney across the yard.
"The wind, real, real heavy and it made a lot of noise. The chimney first, coming down and the metal is over there, about 70 yards," said Manzanareas.
The house is going to need repairing, so he called David Schulte with Schulte Roofing.
"This roof's got a few areas that the shingles have actually been lifted up and torn off in a few places," Schulte said. "The wind was able to get up under the chimney cap and rip it off and there was enough force to knock out that rock."
Because of the recent storms, Schulte Roofing received about 50 calls in a span of two hours.
"I'm cleaning my swimming pool. Clean all the yard, clean all the stuff in the back, it's broken, some stuff in the back, so I have a lot of work to do this week," Manzanareas said.
The skies are clear and blue now, but whether it's getting estimates for roof repairs, or clearing piles of brush, everyone we spoke with says they have plenty of work leftover to keep them busy.
The roof is salvageable, according to Schulte Roofing, and should only cost about $339.
