BRYAN, Texas We have an update from police on what could be a very busy night if the streets and highways start to ice over.
Bryan Police tell us there aren't any special preparations they are making but they are ready to respond if we experience possibly dangerous conditions.
Our last run in with ice was on December 7, 2013 and that caused lots of crashes on Highway 6 and also closed down a number of bridges temporarily so that TxDOT could sand them and prevent other accidents.
Bryan and College Station Police will be here to help overnight and in the morning if you run into problems on the road. But they remind you to slow down and avoid driving if possible when it's dangerous.
"We'll have a full staff of you know we have our evening shift and our night shifts that are working this evening. And they'll be responding to calls as normal as needed, but it does put us if the roads get really icy and we're responding to all the accidents, it also puts us at risk," said Officer Kelley McKethan with the Bryan Police Department.
Stayed tuned to KBTX on air and online for the latest conditions.
