Bryan A local business has been honored by a state organization for its commitment to employing a Bryan resident who is deaf and blind.
Jonathan Cassens the owner of Central Texas Orthotics and Prosthetics in Bryan received an award Wednesday from the Texas Interagency Task Force on Deafblindness.
For the last 10 years Cassens has employed Christopher Palasota who is deaf, blind and a kidney transplant survivor.
Christopher and his mom, who's his sponsor, work everyday cleaning the business, organizing, and even buying supplies.
"We had a dream about his future. We thought maybe he'll have friends and activities and maybe a job and a place to live and it seems like a lot of his dreams have come true," Christopher's mom Sheryl Palasota said.
The Texas Interagency Task Force on Deafblindness was created in 1979 to encourage quality services to Texans who are deaf and blind.
