Updated: Thu 6:40 AM, Nov 01, 2012

Candidates in the upcoming Bryan elections took their messages to the citizens in a forum Monday night.

The Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce hosted the event, which streamed live here at KBTX.com and was heard on NewsTalk 1620. WTAW's Scott DeLucia was the moderator.

Incumbent Single Member District 5 Councilmember Art Hughes is facing Craig Regan in the election.

Greg Owens and Steve Ramirez are running in a special election for SMD3.

The current SMD3 councilmember, Chuck Konderla, is running for the at-large seat because his home is no longer in the district he was elected to represent following redistricting. Konderla faces Lloyd Joyce and Rafael Pena.

Pena was the only candidate for city council that did not attend the forum. The current at-large seat-holder, Mike Southerland, cannot run for re-election due to term limits.

Tommy Bosquez delivered a statement at the beginning of the event. He is running for the at large seat on the Bryan school board. His opponent, Sylvester Smith, did not attend the forum. The incumbent, Merrill Green, is not running for re-election.

There are no contested races for College Station city council or school board.

Early voting runs through November 2. Election Day is November 6.
