Dozens of people came out to the American Momentum Bank Ballpark in Bryan to Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos.

Children danced traditional dances in bright and colorful dresses to honor their Mexican heritage. A Catholic Mass was held in the baseball stands where alters were set up with food, flowers, skulls and pictures of loved ones who have passed to celebrate the connection between life and death. Organizers say they are happy to give back to the community.

"This is an opportunity for us to promote education and to promote family values in which we believe. So this is an excellent turn out, excellent opportunity and we appreciate everyone for coming out," said Daniel M.L. Hernandez.

The event is put on by the Americana Familia Foundation and founders Daniel M.L. Hernandez and Kyle Incardona. After four years, the group has raised $10,000 in scholarships for high school seniors in the ESL program.

Proceeds from this years' event will go to scholarships for seniors in high school going to college with the goal of them coming back to the Brazos Valley to become business leaders.
