Bryan's new permanent city manager has a new long term contract after the city council unanimously approves it Tuesday night.

Kean Register tells us the five year contract includes a $230,000 salary along with an $8,000 car allowance.

In comparison, his predecessor David Watkins made $165,000.

College Station's City Manager makes $165,000 with a $6,000 car allowance.

Register had hoped to return to work at Bryan Texas Utilities one day as their top leader but says he doesn't plan to leave city hall now that the utility's general manager reports to his office.

He does tell us if the city ever were to want him to leave his position he has a contract option to return to BTU.

Register was named permanent city manager last month after serving as interim since September 2010.
