The Bryan City Council approved a measure to purchase a new fire engine truck with a unanimous vote.
Chief Randy McGregor asked the city council to add a $765,000 fire truck to the city's budget.
McGregor says a fire truck has a life span of 10 years before it needs to be replaced. And that the new truck will help firefighters to keep citizens safe.
"We want to maintain a safe and reliable fleet that we can count on whenever we respond to emergencies," said McGregor.
It will take up to a year to have the truck manufactured.
