BRYAN - Byan firefighters rallied around one of their own who rode 800 miles to remember his fallen comrades.

Bryan Firefighter Matt Deemer rode in the Ride for Remembrance to honor fireighters Eric Wallace and Greg Pickard who died in the Knights of Columbus Hall fire last year.

Deemer pedaled a 15-hundred dollar bike that was loaned to him by Aggieland Cycling.
He planned to buy it himself, but fellow firefighters beat him to it and surprised him by pitching in and buying it for him.

He serves the community at his day job. He honors the fallen in his free time.

"Let the families know, let the community know that we still remember, even though it's a year later," Deemer said.

Deemer plans to use the bike to keep riding in other races in remembrance of fallen firefighters.
