BRYAN, Texas The hills are alive with the sound of music in Bryan this weekend.

A familiar musical featuring Captain von Trapp, seven children, and a nun named Maria is being performed at the Bryan Civic Auditorium.

35 cast members and 16 orchestra musicians are part of Bryan High School's performance of "The Sound of Music."

The story which became an Academy Award-Winning Film in the 1960's features many memorable songs including "Do-Re-Mi," "My Favorite Things," and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."

It tells the story of a family in Austria as the Nazi's began to take over Europe in the late 1930's.

The students have been rehearsing for the past five weeks.

“It’s a real story. It’s the story of the von Trapp Family and now Hollywood has added it’s little take to it. But there’s a very historical significant piece to this show and it’s been really fun having the kids really delve into the history of the show," said Alex Medlock, Director of Choirs for Bryan High School.

Tickets can be purchased online at or in person at the high school front office.

Admission is $7 for students, $10 for adults, and $12 at the door.

Performances are February 7th, 8th, and 10th at 7 P.M. and a matinee February 8th at 1 P.M.
