A high-speed chase Sunday night ended when a suspected drunk driver slammed into another vehicle on Highway 6 in Bryan.

The chase didn't actually end until State Troopers shot the suspect with a taser gun as News 3 found out after being the only media outlet on scene.

Police and DPS cruisers lit the scene Sunday night after a suspected drunk driver crashes his Dodge Pickup into another Dodge truck after troopers say he fled at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

25-year-old David Saucier of Bryan was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital and then the Robertson County Jail for evading arrest, third DWI offense, having a cigarette laced with PCP, and deadly conduct.

DPS Senior Corporal Jimmy Morgan tells us it all started after a report of a reckless driver in Robertson County with the chase starting there.

"The suspect vehicle lost control just north of F-M 2818 went off the right side of the roadway into the bar ditch," Morgan said.

Then he says the driver got on the road again and rear-ended a Dodge Pickup truck driven by 22 year-old Franklin Keith Gilbreath of Iola and his passenger Sierra Callahan also of Iola.

After getting hit that pickup came to rest underneath the MLK / Old Reliance Bridge on Highway 6.

"After the collision the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to elude the officers running into the southbound bar ditch. They were able to catch up with them but he failed to meet the commands of the officers and was actually tased," Morgan said.

Saucier has a dozen arrests in Brazos County including an arrest by A&M Police July 21st for public intoxication.

"Could have caused somebody's death so I'm glad we got him captured and got him off the roadway," Morgan commented.

Troopers tell us they were making plans to deploy spike strips before the crash happened.

David Saucier remains in the Robertson County Jail on $35,000 bond.

Troopers say the people in the pickup that was hit were not seriously injured.
