Bryan Restaurant Promoting Johnny Manziel For Mayor

Updated: Mon 4:53 PM, Jan 07, 2013

Texas Aggies are still celebrating their Friday victory at the Cotton Bowl and some are even suggesting some new notoriety for Johnny Manziel.

J Cody's Steaks and Barbecue Restaurant put a sign up last month encouraging Johnny Football to run for Mayor!

It's been getting a lot of attention after the Aggie Football team made an incredible start their first season in the Southeastern Conference.

Restaurant owner Cody Whitten says he's had lots of great feedback from the sign.

"It's just something to kind of go along with all the excitement in town that Johnny Manziel, that Coach Sumlin and his staff have created. It's a level of excitement that we haven't seen in a long, long time and it's just something fun to do," said Whitten.

News 3 also spoke with Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski who'd heard about the sign and thinks it's great.

He said he'd like to invite Manziel to be honorary mayor of the day in Bryan and encourages him to run for office.

But Bienski would like to see him continue to play at A&M before hopefully joining the NFL after graduating, he said.
