Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
The two Brazos Valley members of District 14-5A opened their football seasons Friday night. A&M Consolidated beat Copperas Cove 44-41. Bryan lost to Waco Midway 38-7.
The Tigers had one of the most dramatic endings to a game you will see. Cove kicked a field goal to take a 41-38 lead with one second left in the game. On the ensuing kick-off Brandon Jackson fielded the squib kick. He would lateral to Derrick Dick who made some moves before eventually reversing his field. Dick then had a wall set up and raced to the end zone for a touchdown giving the Tigers a dramatic 44-41 victory.
Consol will open the home portion of their schedule September 6 against Waco Midway. Bryan will be on the field at Merrill Green Stadium the same night to face Magnolia.
