Nearly 500 people raised over $5,000 for two firefighter’s families. The Bryan Fire Department hosted a spaghetti fundraiser at the Downtown Fire Station.
The benefit was for Isabella “Izzy” Wallace and Mason Deemer, or as the fire station called it “for two of our youngest family members.”
Izzy is the daughter of Lt.Eric Wallace. She was born premature and weighed a little less than two pounds. Izzy had to spend her first two months in the hospital in Temple. Her family had to travel daily to from their home in Marlin so they could see their baby girl. Thankfully, Izzy came home on Mother’s day this year.
Mason Deemer, the son of Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Deemer, is battling Cystic Fibrosis and recently had a bout with the disease that required his family to spend some time in Temple at the Scott and White Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, this is something Mason and his family will have to deal with for his lifetime.
The benefit was to help offset the medical costs for their families.
