Volunteers, members of local fire departments and outside agencies are assisting in the search for a missing Brazos County man.

The man has been identified as 67-year-old Alec Pearson, who has Alzheimer's Disease.

Searchers are working to cover a five-mile radius around Pearson's home on Scrimshaw Lane in the Nantucket area off of Highway 6 south of College Station. By nightfall, Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk says they are considering stopping the search until Saturday morning.

Searchers say Pearson may have been spotted in the Castlegate area of South College Station. Residents say they saw Pearson heading south down Arrington Rd toward Indian lakes around 9 a.m. Thursday.

In addition to local first responders, a team out of Travis County and a DPS helicopter have been involved in the search, along with help from various local agencies. Tracking dogs were called in, and the Red Cross is also assisting.
