A envelope containing a suspicious powder forced the evacuation of a College Station building.
About 500 employees in all were in the building in the 200 block of Quality Circle at the time, according to the College Station Fire Department. Two who came into contact with the powder were decontaminated and are being monitored.
According to CSFD, the powder was determined to be Trypsin, which is non-toxic.
The first call was received by first responders at 11:27 a.m. Wednesday. By 1:00 p.m., all but the mail room of the building was reopened.
Quality Circle is near the southeast corner of Highway 6 and William D. Fitch Parkway. Pebble Creek Park and Pebble Creek Elementary School are nearby. According to College Station Independent School District, they received no instructions from CSFD, and students were believed to be safe.
