COLLEGE STATION - A College Station man was arrested Wednesday morning after a standoff in south College Station.
20-year-old William Herring is in the Brazos County Jail. Herring is charged with him assault on a family member and evading arrest.
Police say they responded to reports of a disturbance around 10 Tuesday night in the 600 block of Harvest Drive, just north of Barron Road and south of Rock Prairie Road. During the fight, at least one shot was fired.
Herring was reportedly refusing all attempts to contact him, so hostage and SWAT teams were called in. Residents were temporarily evacuated to Cypress Grove Intermediate School.
The suspect surrendered shortly after midnight without incident and residents were later allowed to return home.
The investigation is ongoing and police say more charges are possible. Herring has a prior charge of evading arrest from back in 2012.
