CALDWELL - Parents of students in Caldwell ISD were notified Thursday of an incident in which a student claims to have been offered rides to school by a stranger. District officials say it happened Thursday morning when a female student at Caldwell Middle School was approached by someone police describe as a white male driving a light-colored car.
Superintendent Dr. Janet Cummings says once the student got to school, the student notified a teacher, who told administrators and police. Caldwell Police had an increased presence around the campus Thursday in response to the event, and district officials say parents were all told about the incident. In that message, parents were reminded to discuss the danger of dealing with strangers with their children,
Cummings also noted that just last month, Caldwell ISD's students were shown presentations on "Stranger Danger" and how to avoid becoming victims.
