Good to Know:
The Caldwell 'Fill the Boot' event raised $3,274, all of which will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
CALDWELL - Volunteer firefighters came together in Caldwell today for a good cause and they even had a special helper.
Eight-year-old Matthew Forbes is an A-honor roll student. And he's on a mission.
"[To] donate money to the Muscular Dystrophy Association," Matthew said.
Matthew has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which means his muscles are slowly deteriorating. Doctors only expect him to live into his early 30s.
"That's really tough, really tough to talk about," said his father, Stan.
The prognosis is what it is. But their outlook...
"It's something you deal with every day, you just enjoy life and make the best of it."
It takes a lot of help to make a difference.
"The people that drive by and give what they can, it just means so much. It means so much."
All in the hope of putting a stop to this terrible disease.
