A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Lee, and Leon Counties from 12am to 12pm THURSDAY. A strong cold front has reached the Brazos Valley, and will continue to push south through the early evening hours. Temperatures are expected to fall to or just above a freeze overnight. A scattered rain chance could turn into a scattered, wintry mix between 6am and 10am Thursday. Little-to-no accumulation is expected -- however, caution is urged driving on bridges and overpasses.
The Cameron Police Department, based on information of a complaint from a concerned parent, has been investigating the Aggravated Sexual Assault and Continual Sexual Abuse of a Child incident. After an extensive investigation by Officer Cecil Prime, Corporal Kris Stringer, Child Protective Services and the Bell County Children’s Advocacy Center, two victims, both ages 12, have been identified and interviewed. Based on this probable cause and investigation, two separate individuals have been arrested and charged with First Degree Felonies and are currently in the Milam County Jail awaiting arraignment. Both subjects were arrested at their residences without incident. The two cases are not related, however, information gathered from one case, brought the second case to light. The situation involved the repeated sexual assault of the female children over the past 4 – 6 months. The case is ongoing with the possibility of more charges being investigated.
Fernando Vargas was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Chile and Continual Sexual Abuse of a Child. Antonio Dominguez was arrested and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Continual Sexual Abuse of a Child.
