Cameron and Surrounding Areas Hit With Phone Scam

Citizens of Cameron and surrounding areas need to be aware of phone scam calls happening at this hour.

The Cameron Police Department has received numerous calls where senior citizens are being called and presented a sales pitch, resulting in the individual receiving the call giving out their social security numbers and bank information.

If you receive a phone call and are asked this information, hang up immediately. So not converse with them, as this is most likely a scam. At this hour, it appears that the 697 area code is being targeted, though everyone should take precaution.
