GALVESTON, Texas - - A song made famous by country star Glen Campbell will lead a new tourism campaign for the Texas city of the same name - Galveston.
The Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau says the song written by Jimmy Webb will be the featured with sites, beaches and improvements made since 2008's Hurricane Ike.
The Galveston County Daily News reported Saturday that the bureau paid $25,000 to purchase the rights to the song. Spokeswoman Leah Cast says Vision Production Group of Houston has done a remake. The reworked tune does not feature Campbell's voice.
Campbell last July performed in Galveston as part of his farewell tour. The 76-year-old entertainer has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
