Milam County Sheriff David Greene took custody of Capital Murder suspect, Michael Allen Seaton, a little after one Tuesday afternoon. Michael Seaton turned himself in to Sheriff Greene after the man-hunt was starting to intensify.
Houston Detectives contacted the Sheriff early Monday morning to advise that they believed that Mr. Seaton was on the run and that he could be hiding out in the Buckholts area. Sheriff Greene visited family members in Buckholts who were unable to give Michael’s whereabouts but that he had been there recently. Sheriff Greene impressed upon Michael’s family members that they needed to convince Michael to turn himself in if they were contacted by him. After checking several other locations it was determined that Michael might be hiding out in the Killeen area.
Houston Detectives were kept updated and other efforts were made to locate the suspect including press releases from the Houston Police Department and electronic tracking methods in which they tried to locate him through his cellular telephone. The Sheriff’s Office put out an “Attempt to Locate” flier to all of the local law enforcement agencies to keep them informed in the event that they came across the suspect.
Sheriff Greene and Houston Detectives’ efforts finally paid off when Michael Seaton turned himself in.
Sheriff David Greene - “We were looking to avoid a bad situation. His surrender allowed us to get a monster off the street without having to put more lives in danger. It makes it hard to sleep wondering what could happen if one of my deputies or another officer might corner him, the outcome could have had tragic consequences.”
