The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History hosted its 7th Annual Boonville Days - Living History Fair.

The fair included the Buffalo Stampede Half Marathon and 5K, historical tents and a 'Cowboy Cookin' cook-off.

For the first time there was a Chuck Wagon Cook-off. Dozens of people started cooking Friday night early into Saturday morning.

The cook-off was a competition, in which each wagon was judged off of authenticity from food to clothing similar to the lifestyle of cowboys on the Cattle Trails. People who attended the event enjoyed the food made from scratch, and heard some folk style Country music.

Cooks were hard at work making hearty meals of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, rolls, beans and peach cobbler. Once the cooking was done, they were able to take a break and sit back to enjoy it all.

"When it was all over with, we got through cooking that was the best part of it when you tell everyone to come and get it," said Ricky Hicks.

Participants told us the first prize winner will receive a $300 cash prize in the cooking division with a chance to win up to $1800.
