What you can or cannot park on your driveway was up for discussion at tonight's College Station City Council meeting. The city decided not to go forward with a citizen-initiated request to change a current ordinance.
The city ordinance allows residents to park their recreational equipment on their lot, but some residents wanted to change that which outraged several people.
"Leave us alone. Let us have our RVs where we want them and where it is convenient for us," said Steve Walton who calls his RV a precious possession that's parked in the perfect spot. "I see numerous RVs not just on this street but other parts of town, and I don't think anything about it. I say hey it's a good place for them."
But some residents label the item as an eyesore. Walton got that message on his door in the form of a flyer. He found out that a group of people came to the city to propose a change in the city ordinance making it illegal to park his RV in the driveway. They want all recreation items to be stored where no one can see it like a backyard or storage facility.
The proposal outlines what you can and cannot park on your own driveway. That includes RVs ,tractor trailers, campers, jet skis, and boats.
The same flyer Walton received was in the hands of several residents who came to the city council meeting.
All in the audience were opposed to the proposal. Those individuals that drafted the amendment to the city ordinance were a no-show.
The council directed staff to not go forward with preparing any ordinance at this time.

You people in CS have it easy try getting up in the morning and having to check if you still have wheels on you car. Are if your car has been taken, This RV problem is nothing.
If you people are going to have a Hobbie such as this that requires a recreational Vehicle or Boat, Jet skis then you people that own these type of things need to have a residence on the Lake in order to have it out in the open a boat has a boat shed jet skis have some sort of garage and THE RV has a BIG Garage of its own so it is not in sight of the neiborhood there are Laws and ordeniences to these things.
In other words: live in a neighborhood with deed restrictions if you don't want to look at OTHER PEOPLES RVs and trailer stuff. Good going City Council. Of course you all live in deed-restricted areas. So let the peasants suffer each other.
