BRYAN - Texas A&M’s women's basketball coach Gary Blair hosts the Eleventh Annual Coach Blair Charities Celebrity Golf Classic on Friday, May 2 at Traditions Golf Club. Blair's tournament has raised almost $1 million to support local charities, such as the Special Olympics Texas in the past decade.
A Celebration Dinner and Silent/Live Auction, presented by MacResource Computers, starts the festivities on Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Brazos County Expo Center. The celebration dinner and golf tournament serve as one of the largest fundraisers for Special Olympics in the state.
"Special Olympics is not just my charity of choice, but the charity I support because the athletes are so special to me and to others because of how hard they work," said Blair. "Competing is winning to them."
Tickets to the Celebration Dinner and Silent/Live Auction are $10 and include drinks and a catfish dinner from Outback Steakhouse. Tickets may be purchased from the Oldham Goodwin Group office at 2800 South Texas Avenue, Suite 401 in Bryan, from CC Creations, or from the Cox-McFerrin Center for Aggie Basketball at Reed Arena.
A wide variety of items will be available in the silent auction ranging from sports memorabilia, furniture, rounds of golf, and more. A live auction will also be held featuring items from David Gardner's, a private dinner from Amico Nave, a catered meal with a custom menu from Napa Flats, a trip with the Texas A&M Women’s Basketball team among others.
The tournament and celebration dinner are made possible through the support of platinum sponsors MacResource Computers, Jack Hilliard Distributing, VALIC Financial Advisors, Commerce National Bank, and BlueLine Rental. Media sponsors are Bryan Broadcasting, The Eagle and KBTX Media.
