A Walker County jury has sentenced Cody Walters to 35 years in prison for a stabbing that happened on December 30, 2009 outside Shenanigans nightclub in Huntsville.
23-year-old Cody Walters of Shepherd was convicted Wednesday of the first degree murder of 20-year-old John McCrary, also of Shepherd.
Huntsville Detectives say the two had broken into a car outside of Shenanigans nightclub in Huntsville when a fight began and Cody Walters attacked McCrary with a knife.
McCrary died during surgery after being stabbed five times.
Walters could have faced up to 99 years behind bars.
His attorney is filing an appeal.
