COLLEGE STATION - Fresh off his defense of a championship, a local fighter learned he would be called up to his sport's top promotion.
College Station's Bubba Bush will compete at the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship event, UFC 175, on July 5 in Las Vegas, this according to MMAFighting.com.
Bush defended his Legacy Fighting Championship middleweight title Friday in Houston, defeating the then-undefeated Alfonso Gonzales by submission late in the first round of the fight.
Now, on a quick turnaround, Bush will face another promotion's champion, Resurrection Fighting Alliance's Kevin Casey, who has a record of 8-3.
Bush, who is 8-2 with a four-fight winning streak, will take on Casey during the preliminary fights prior to the main, pay-per-view card.
News 3 profiled Bush in May. An operator of Brazos Valley Mixed Martial Arts in College Station, the Aggie says he hopes to spread the word of God through his athletic exploits.
