College Station Firefighters Sell Pink Shirts For Breast Cancer Awareness

Firefighters may be used to saving lives by responding to emergencies, but now some local first responders are working to save lives by a less traditional means, selling t-shirts.

College Station Firefighters are wearing pink and blue for a good cause for breast cancer awareness month.

The t-shirts are on sale online for $12 each and can be picked at the fire stations in town.

Last year their efforts raised more than $5,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

"The money that's raised, half the money that we take in from the t-shirt automatically goes for the donation of to either Susan G. Komen or and this year we are considering a local charity that we are actually looking to donate to, so we are actually looking to split the money half way," said Charles Almanza, a College Station Firefighter and Paramedic.

So far they've sold more than 300 t-shirts to the public and more than 100 within the department.
