College Station School Board Approves Demolition of Conference Center

COLLEGE STATION- The College Station Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday approved funding for the demolition of the city's conference center for a total maximum price of $378,948.

A new school district Center for Alternative Learning will be built on the site and is scheduled to open in August of 2015.

The College Station Conference Center was closed in July of 2012 after a structural engineer found the roof was not structurally sound.

The demolition package was approved to allow Joeris General Contractors to start the process of tearing the conference center down.

The balance of the Center for Alternative Learning project is expected to be considered by board members at the July school board meeting.
