It's important to protect ourselves from mosquitoes by being aware of the way we dress, how long we're outdoors, using repellent and to drain standing water.
College Station's Mosquito Abatement program provides an additional line of protection by making large quantities of larvicide dunks available to registered HOAs.
HOAs pay the city and those funds are rebated. In more than a decade, the city of Colleges Station says participating HOAs have yet to see a mosquito or have a bird test positive for West Nile.
