A Conroe family law attorney was indicted Tuesday by a Montgomery County grand jury for allegedly falsifying government documents when filing to run in this year’s Republican Primary.

Jessica Siegel’s problems began last December when party officials declined her application to run against 418th State District Judge Tracy Gilbert because they say she hadn’t lived in Montgomery County long enough for her to run for public office.

Siegle’s attempted filing prompted a complaint to the district attorney’s office that initiated a Texas Rangers investigation. Three months after her failed filing, Siegel once again tried to file, but this time she was arrested.

If convicted, the 47-year-old faces 180 days to two years jail time and a $10,000 for each both counts of tampering she faces.
