Texas A&M University has agreed in principle to a salary increase and contract extension for head football coach Kevin Sumlin, as well as increased compensation packages for the Aggie assistant football coaches, pending the scheduled Feb. 1, 2013 meeting of the A&M System Board of Regents, Director of Athletics Eric Hyman announced on Saturday.
In its first season under Sumlin’s direction, the Texas A&M football team posted its fourth 11-win season in program history, which included a road victory over eventual national champion Alabama and an AT&T Cotton Bowl victory over Big 12 Co-Champion Oklahoma. The Aggies finished No. 5 in the final Associated Press Top 25 ranking, which was A&M’s highest finish since 1956.
