Counselors will be available for students affected by the fatal car wreck at Sam Houston State University that took the lives of three students and injured another early Saturday morning.
According to the university, the rollover wreck happened near the intersection South Avenue I and Bowers Blvd around 4:50 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle had rolled into the Academic IV building.
University officials said Blanca Espinal, 19 of Houston, Eric Torres, 22 of San Juan and Alfonso Mata, 20 of Brownsville all died in the accident.
Thomas Roling, a 22-year-old from The Woodlands was hospitalized for his injuries and was listed in good condition by St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan early Saturday afternoon.
According to Drew Miller, executive director of SHSU’s Student Counseling and Health Services, the Counseling Center will be open at 8 a.m.
