DALLAS – Josh Brent, the Cowboys nose tackle charged in the death of his teammate and friend Jerry Brown Jr., has been indicted for intoxication manslaughter.
Dallas County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Debbie Denmon says the grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday. It received the case last Friday.
The case will be tried in Dallas County Criminal Court No. 1 by Judge Robert Burns. Brent does not yet have a trial date.
On Dec. 8, Brent and Brown, 25, left a Dallas club in the nose tackle's Mercedes. Brent hit an outside curb and flipped the vehicle onto its top on the Highway 114 frontage road. Responders transported Brown to a nearby hospital where he died.
Brent, 24, is out on $100,000 bond. A judge has ordered him to wear a monitoring device to ensure he doesn't so much as sip alcohol. He is also not allowed to drive.
