SAN ANTONIO -- Comedian and daredevil Steve-O from the series "Jackass" is in the Alamo City for several days of comedy shows. But when he decided to have one of his daredevil moments, he found out the hard way how deep the San Antonio River really is.
He climbed onto a railing on the side of the Commerce Street Bridge near the River Center, then performed a backflip midair before splashing into the four-foot deep river. He was apparently uninjured.
He posted a photo of his stunt on his Facebook page Friday night with the caption: "I did a good deed today by proving it's not safe to jump off this bridge at the San Antonio River Walk. It's shallow -- I hit the bottom when I landed this gainer flip. #notagoodidea"
This was yesterday in San Antonio... And that water is way shallow, I don't recommend doing this-- I hit the bottom. pic.twitter.com/P14GSHfrG7— Steve-O (@steveo) March 15, 2014
KENS 5 caught up with Steve-O before his show at the River Center Comedy Club on Friday night.
"So I came to San Antonio, and it's known for the River Walk. So I was just doing some sightseeing, I looked at the bridge and I thought, 'Man, if I do a flip off this bridge, that would be super-cool,'" he said. "I don't recommend anybody jump off that bridge. I'm excited that I got to create a little bit of buzz in San Antonio. I really love it here and hope to come back soon."
