HOUSTON- Fans seeking tickets for this year’s RodeoHouston were not too happy Saturday morning after extreme demand led to the Ticketmaster system having trouble processing requests.
According to the RodeoHouston officials, some users experienced incorrect messages and fluctuating wait times once tickets went on sale at 10 a.m.
“We apologize to our RodeoHouston fans, and want to let them know that Ticketmaster’s online system has now caught up with the demand,” RodeoHouston said in a released statement Saturday afternoon.
Officials invited fans to check back with Ticketmaster, saying that the online system has now caught up with demand. They said while a few performances have a “limited” amount of tickets available, there were still plenty of tickets for “most” performances.
“We value each and every one of our RodeoHouston fans,” said Leroy Shafer, chief operating officer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience they may have encountered.”
Fans took to social media Saturday morning to express their frustration with the process claiming that they had to wait as long as 40 minutes to access the Ticketmaster website. Some said they received screen messages like “Searching for tickets,” but were never granted an opportunity to make their purchase.
Some fans commented that they had more success purchasing tickets through the Ticketmaster mobile app and calling the outlet directly.
This year’s RodeoHouston will feature 21 different performers and is not limited to country music.
The rodeo kicks off March 4 and lasts for two weeks.
