BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) A standoff at a South Texas home has ended with a woman's boyfriend found slain and her ex-beau wounded and blamed for the fatal shooting.

Brownsville police say all three people involved in Wednesday's nine-hour incident worked for the Cameron County jail system.

Detective J.J. Trevino said Thursday that both men were jailers and the woman is a nurse. Trevino says the woman escaped unharmed before officers fired tear gas into her house and her ex-boyfriend, 31-year-old Marco Antonio Gonzalez, shot himself in the midsection.

Officers located the body of 31-year-old Ivan Reyes inside.

Brownsville police Chief Orlando Rodriguez says investigators believe Gonzalez fatally shot Reyes.

Trevino says Gonzalez, who was hospitalized in stable but critical condition Thursday, will face a number of charges.
