"I think it just really shows and will build community spirit and will give the students an idea of what this town really means to us," Anderson Shiro High School student Alea Carrell said.
Students from ASHS serving different organizations like FFA, Student Council, and National Honor Society used donated resources to put native plants and flowers along Main Street to be seen for generations to come.
"Later on in life we'll get to tell our children our grandchildren that we helped make this community more beautiful and stuff," said ASHS student Connor Lara.
This project is just one component of the mayor's ongoing effort to clean up the entire city.
"People in town are cleaning up their properties...that haven't done it in years and we've condemned some houses and brought them down and people are working with us and it's just really finally paying off for all the hard work," Anderson Mayor Gail Sowell said.
Cleaning up. And coming together.
"Our community supports us a hundred percent so we need to show our community the same support," said Carrell.
