WATCHES AND WARNINGS

Dozens Of Local Law Enforcement Return Home From Inauguration

Updated: Tue 10:47 PM, Jan 22, 2013

Dozens of law enforcement from the Brazos Valley made the trip back from Washington D.C. today after taking part in the presidential inauguration festivities.

"It was wonderful. It really was,” said Brazos County Sheriff's Deputy Ed Frank.

He along with 74 other law enforcement officers from the area were selected to go Washington D.C to be part of crowd control during the presidential inauguration and parade.

They left on the weekend, and were deputized as Deputy U.S. Marshals along with 2,000 other officers from all over the U.S.

The job wasn't easy.

"Long hours. We started at 3:30 in the morning and we weren't done until approximately 6:30 in the afternoon so it is a very long day on the parade route,” said Frank. "Our job is to stand with our back turned and face the crowd.

Frank was feet away from the President, but didn't get to see him.

"It is kind of overwhelming knowing that the President of the United States is rolling behind you just feet away and you are protecting them,” said Frank.

Sign up to be a part of the inauguration starts 4 months before the event, and many officers from the Brazos Valley hope to take part in the next one.

Bryan, College Station, and Texas A&M Police Department along with deputies from the Brazos County Sheriff's Office took part.

The trip for all officers was paid for by the federal government.
