The Bryan ISD Board of Trustees has officially selected Dr. Thomas A. Wallis as the next superintendent to lead Bryan ISD. The Board approved the hiring by unanimous vote in workshop session today.
Wallis is currently the superintendent of Palestine ISD, a position he has held since July, 2008. He comes to Bryan ISD with 20 years of experience in education. Wallis, a native of Canyon, Texas, started his career teaching Texas History and coaching in Lamesa ISD. He continued his career teaching and coaching in Mesquite ISD, then entered school administration in 1997 in Mesquite ISD. He was named Region X Assistant Principal of the Year in 2001. Wallis also worked in Rockwall ISD for two years before becoming high school principal in Mabank ISD in 2003.
In 2007, Wallis was named Region X Principal of the Year, as well as TASSP's Texas High School Principal of the Year.
Wallis holds an undergraduate degree from Angelo State University, a Master of Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a Doctorate of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.
