Texas A&M Student Arrested For Hit and Run Accident

Driver Arrested Accused of Hitting Two Pedestrians in Northgate

10pm Update: Texas A&M Student Arrested For Hit and Run Accident

An arrest has been made in this weekend's hit and run pedestrian accident in Northgate.

College Station police arrested Morgan Head, a 22 year old Texas A&M student, this afternoon who confessed to being the driver of the vehicle. She was arrested for two counts of failure to stop and render aid.

"Once she was identified, she was cooperative. She knew that she had struck something because of her mirror, but she did not know she struck a person. That was her statement," said Lt. Steve Brock with the College Station Police Department.

The 19 and 21-year-old pedestrians were struck by the outside rear view mirror of the pickup. They didn't have any major injuries.

Investigators say Head thought she hit a construction cone.

The accident happened Saturday morning around 2 a.m. in the Northgate area across from Texas A&M. Saturday night Head turned in the truck to police after surveillance video of the scene was released.

College Station police say they don't know if alcohol was involved because by the time she came forward, it was too late for a sobriety test.

A report was presented to the district attorney's office this week, and Tuesday afternoon she was in police custody.

"The decision was ultimately made because she did strike someone and left the scene of the accident. So it's fail to stop and render aid. By law you are required, if you strike a person or a fixed object, to stop and call the police, leave information, but none of that was done," said Lt. Brock.

A bond has not been set for Head.
