Dozens of people took shelter near Easterwood Airport during Friday night's storm including News 3 Reporter Clay Falls.
Drivers pulled underneath the overpass at the entrance of the airport on F-M 60 to escape the storm and small hail a little after 7 P.M.
"I was driving into town and the rain it was just so hard we had to pull over so got beat up by hail I don't know how bad it is it was hailing. Pretty hard there for awhile," said Sherrie Winn, a stranded driver from Snook.
Many of the stranded drivers waited out the storm for more than 25 minutes.
The National Weather Service recommends people not congregate under overpasses during severe thunderstorms and especially during tornadoes.
If you are caught in a tornado and no shelter is available we're told it is best to lie in a culvert, ditch or low lying area as a last resort.
