EF-0 Twister Leaves Brenham Homeowners Out of Pocket
Some people thought it was more than just high winds and heavy rain -- but now the National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado did touch down in Brenham yesterday morning.

Judging by the beautiful blue skies above Brenham --it's quite obvious her mood is unpredictable.
“Mother Nature is going to get you one way or another, our time was due I guess,” said Brenham resident Larry Allen.
The National Weather Service confirms the destruction is in fact the work of an EF-0 tornado. The damage path was 2.5 miles long and 50 yards wide. The NWS says the tornado dropped down west of
County Road 50 just to the north of Brenham Municipal Airport and
traveled eastward to the intersection of FM 262 and County Road 65.
"It sounded like someone was beating the hell out of the roof," added Allen. “I’m guessing that’s when it was just tearing the shingles off the roof.”
Daylight revealed the magnitude of the storm where Allen learned he would need a brand new roof -- And so would his brother-in-law who lives next door.
“It took the roof off that barn and destroyed the other barn over there,” explained Allen.
Just a few miles down the road, evidence of the twister is clearly visible.
“It was a whole lot of swirvin' wind like scary wind, like you were in a scary movie," said Brenham resident Renaishia McClain.
The trampoline that used to be in Renaishia McClain's backyard is now mangled -- not to mention hundreds of feet away from where it belongs.
“It's tore up and it's twisted all kind of ways,” added McClain. “I was all alone and my kids had just left for school. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen.”
According to the National Weather Service the tornado had maximum, sustained winds of 85 miles per hour; and although her time was short-lived, residents in Washington County are left footing the pricy bill Mother Nature left behind.
“She made a good one, [laughs] and it sure is going to take a lot of work to try to get this stuff up again,” said Allen. “All we’ve got to do now is wait for the insurance adjuster to see what's going to happen now.”
