The last ever Poinsettia Celebration was held at Ellison’s Greenhouse in Brenham over the weekend.
After more than 40 years in business, the Ellisons will be leasing out their greenhouses to a wholesale distributor starting January 1st.
PJ Ellison grew up around her family’s business. She's been running it for the past 19 years. She says she hopes this last Poinsettia Celebration will be the best of all.
“It doesn't need a lot of gimmicks, it doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles, the beauty and the people and the memories are what make it so special,” said Ellison.
Ellison says there are 80,000 poinsettias over 2 ½ acres at the Brenham greenhouses.
“How can they get so many in one place at one time,” said Teresa Cramer. “They're beautiful...I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life.”
Ellison says saying goodbye to the tradition is sad
“They hate to see us go, because they love us so much. That's a good sad. That’s a great sad,” said Ellison.
