Evacuation Order Lifted After Brush Fire Threatens Structures in Brazos County

Firefighters say the brush fire was put out shortly before 4 PM. The evacuation order for Riley Road has been lifted.

A fire burning in the northeast part of Brazos County has forced officials to order an evacuation for Riley Road.

According to Brazos County dispatch, the ten acre fire is burning on Riley Road, heading north east toward F-M 2038.

Officials are asking people to avoid the area. Anyone who lives there is asked to evacuate and find a safe place to stay.

Right now firefighters from three different agencies are on scene fighting the fire -- men and women from Brazos County Precincts Two, Three and Four.

They've also asked for assistance from a helicopter, to drop water over the fire.
