Ex-Houston Officer Pleads Guilty in Drug Case

HOUSTON - - A former Houston police officer faces up to 25 years in prison for becoming a drug money courier after he left the force in 2009.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Anthony Foster on Tuesday pleaded guilty to two conspiracy-related counts in the money laundering case. He faces sentencing in May.

A June traffic stop led Houston police to discover Foster driving with more than $350,000 stashed in a fake whiskey case.

The Houston Chronicle reports the enterprise operated out of a simple office behind an auto collision shop. The indictment says money was hauled to Houston in bulk from Mexico, then transferred to U.S. financial institutions.

Foster resigned from the police department amid a bribery investigation. He pleaded guilty to taking money from an undercover officer and was put on probation.
